Did you know?
Every night, while we sleep, a part of our soul “ascends” to G-d, in order to get strength. It can be compared to charging our phone so we can continue to use it.
In the morning G-d gives us back our soul, “recharged” and full of energy. This is why we recite a special blessing, Elo-ai Neshama, to thank G-d for returning our soul to us.
Saying this blessing reminds us everyday that G-d returns our soul to us for a specific purpose, to do Mitzvot.
Shabbat Shalom,
Arie from the Yeshiva

My G-d, the soul you placed within me is pure. You created it, You fashioned it, You breathed it into me, You safeguard it within me and eventually You will take it from me and restore it to me in time to come. As long as the soul is within me, I gratefully thank you Hashem, my G-d and the G-d of my forefathers, Master of all words, Lord of all souls. Blessed are you Hashem, who restores souls to dead bodies.
